Welcome to the Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro and Adobe Acrobat 9 Standard ReadMe, which contains essential information on Adobe Acrobat products. For information about Adobe LiveCycle Designer, a forms authoring application installed with Acrobat 9 Pro, see the ReadMe file located in the Designer 8.2/Documentation/EN folder. Designer is installed in the Program Files/Adobe/Acrobat9.0/Designer 8.2 folder.

System Requirements

 

Acrobat 9 Pro for Windows® requires the following:

 

·         1.3 gigahertz processor or higher

·         MS Hot Fix KB-930627: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/930627 is required for Microsoft® Windows® XP Home, Professional, or Tablet PC Edition with Service Pack 2 (64-bit); Windows Server® 2003 (with Service Pack 2 for 64-bit); or Windows Vista® Home Basic, Home Premium, Business, Ultimate, or Enterprise without Service Pack 1 (64-bit)

·         256 MB of installed RAM (512 MB recommended)

·         2.2 GB of available hard disk space (Note: The installer creates temporary files during installation so the actual hard disk space required at that time is greater than the values listed.)

·         1024 x 768 screen resolution

·         DVD-ROM drive, if installing from a DVD

·         Internet Explorer 6.0

·         Video hardware acceleration optional

 

Acrobat 9 Standard for Windows® requires the following:

 

·         1.3 gigahertz processor or higher

Installation Instructions

 

Use the following instructions to install new software or to upgrade from a previous version. If you are installing an upgrade, you may be required to provide proof of ownership.

 

To install Acrobat 9 in Windows®

 

1. Restart Windows and turn off any antivirus software.

 

2. Start the installation:

·         If you purchased Acrobat on a DVD, insert the DVD.

·         If you purchased Acrobat 9 Pro or Standard as a download, your package is located at:

<system drive>:\Documents and Settings\<user>\Desktop\Adobe Acrobat 9 <Pro or Std> . Adobe recommends that you back up your download package, preferably to a DVD before installing the software. When ready to install, double-click the package to decompress it.

·         Click Install Adobe Acrobat 9 from the Autoplay splash screen.

 

3. In the Adobe Acrobat 9 setup dialog box, click Next. Follow the on-screen instructions to read the introduction and then select a language if necessary.

 

4. Enter the serial number for your copy of the program. The serial number is located on the outside of the DVD case, or on the receipt page for web purchases. You can also locate the serial number for web purchases in your online order history.

 

5. Select an installation type:

·         Typical installs the program files for Acrobat, Acrobat Distiller, Adobe Designer (not included in Acrobat 9 Standard), PDFMaker, the Adobe PostScript printer driver for your system, standard plug-ins, accessories, and the online documentation.

·         Complete installs all Acrobat 9 features and requires the most disk space.

·         Custom lets you specify which components to install.

 

Note: For a description of a component, select Custom, and click Next. Then select a component to see its description. Click Back to return to selecting a type of installation if you do not want to continue with a custom installation.

 

6. Click Next, and follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation.

 

7. Activation is an anonymous series of simple and quick steps completed by the software upon launch. To learn more about Activation see the Activation ReadMe.htm file located in Program Files\Adobe\Acrobat 9.0\Acrobat\AMT.

To uninstall Acrobat 9 in Windows®

 

1. Launch the Control Panel and from it select Add or Remove Programs.

 

2. From the list of applications that appears, highlight Acrobat 9 and press the Change/Remove button.

 

3. The Acrobat 9 Application Maintenance dialog appears. Press the Next button and then select Remove to remove Acrobat 9.

 

Registration

 

Please complete your registration. When you start Acrobat, Acrobat may prompt you to register your software online. You may also choose Registration from the Help menu to register your software online. Alternatively, you can register your software by filling in and mailing the registration card provided with Adobe Acrobat. You must register to receive technical support.
